J Pidgeon & Son Limited ("we", "us") is the data controller for the personal information collected through https://pidgeon.boultondigital.com. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us by email at pidgeonscardiff@aol.com, by telephone on 02920 226604, by post at 539 Cowbridge Road East, or Cardiff. CF5 1BD.

We only collect the information we need to respond to you and to provide our services with the care they deserve. Depending on how you contact us, that may include:

  • Your name and the contact details you give us (telephone number, email address, or postal address).
  • The details you choose to share in an enquiry, callback request, or arrangement form — including anything you tell us about your circumstances.
  • Tributes or messages of condolence you submit, which are reviewed before anything is shown publicly.
  • If you record your funeral wishes with us: your name, date of birth, address and contact details, the wishes themselves (such as burial or cremation, the type of service, music and readings), and the name and contact details of a trusted contact you choose to tell us about.
  • Basic technical information from your device (such as your browser type), used only to keep the website secure and working.

We use your information to reply to your enquiry, to arrange and provide funeral services, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Our lawful bases under the UK GDPR are: your consent (which you can withdraw at any time); the performance of a contract with you; and our legitimate interest in responding to messages sent to us and running our business responsibly.

Funeral wishes can reveal your religious or philosophical beliefs, and you may choose to tell us about your health. This is special category data, so we only record your wishes with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the form. We use your wishes only to keep a record of them, to share them with the people you've asked us to, and to carry them out when the time comes. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, and we will delete your record.

If you give us details of a trusted contact, we hold them only so we can get in touch with that person about your wishes. Please let them know you have shared their details with us and point them to this policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to help us serve you — for example, with the trusted providers who host this website and deliver our email on our behalf, and with third parties such as clergy, cemeteries, or crematoria where that is needed to carry out your wishes. All such providers are bound to keep your information secure and to use it only on our instructions.

We keep enquiry and arrangement records only for as long as we need them for the purpose we collected them, and to meet our legal obligations, after which they are securely deleted. If you would like us to delete information sooner, please ask and we will do so wherever we are able.

We keep funeral wishes records for 5 years at a time. Before the 5 years are up, we check with you that you still want us to keep them. If you do, we keep them for another 5 years; if you don't, or we can't reach you, we securely delete them. Only authorised staff at your funeral director can see your record, and every time it is opened or downloaded this is logged.

You have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. You can read more on our Your Data Rights page, and you can exercise any of these rights by contacting us using the details above.

This website uses a small number of cookies. Non-essential cookies, such as analytics, are only ever set after you have given your consent. You can read more, and change your choice at any time, on our Cookie Policy page.
